Ameztoi Rubentis, Hondarrabi Zuri | Hondarrabi Beltza, Getariako Txakolina, Gipuzkoa, Basque Country, Spain, Bin N15
Am I crazy or are these wines getting better every vintage? Intended to be fresh and ready for consumption the spring after harvest, Txakolina is the rosé of this quaffable basque tradition. The 23’ Rubentis is no exception with a generous aroma of citrus blossom and jalapeño, tantalizing body and a sour apple, watermelon, jolly rancher finish built to tilt. Ask for it to be served in a porron!

Italian

2022 Meigamma Rosato Zero, Cannonau, Villasimius, Sardinia, Bin N10
This is a distinctly Italian rosato with its cranberry coppertones. It is delightfully perfumed with pronounced layered aromas of red fruit, ribbon candy, earth and spice. From the southeastern tip of the Island Barbara and Giuseppe Pusceddu have organically farmed a single hectare on sandy soils about 600 meters from the sea since 2006. Cannonau has thrived on Sardinia for centuries in isolation, however DNA analysis shows that it is genetically identical to Grenache.

2022 Le Coste Rosato, Aleatico, Lazio, Bin U
Whilst this iconic rosé never ceases to impress, this might be one of the best yet. The grapes come from a fifty year old parcel of Aleatico planted some five hundred meters above sea level and are pressed directly and aged in a combination of old barrels and porcelain amphorae. Reflecting the freshness of the vintage, this is pale, nuanced and whistle clean, offering delicate notes of minerals, blood orange and rose.

North American

2020 Frenchtown Farms 'Cecelia,' Syrah | Sauvignon | Grenache, North Yuba AVA, California, Bin 39H
Aaron and Cara Mockrish are attempting to accomplish what Gideon Beinstock (Clos Saron) has for the last 20+ years, utilize what the Earth and weather provide them to make highly sought after wines. The North Yuba AVA of the Sierra Foothills, is as fascinating a terroir as the people that live there. These three expressions provide a comprehensive view of this thought.
$65

2023 Shed Wines ‘My friend Pan’, Pinot Noir, Leelanau Peninsula AVA, Bin 67J
Whole cluster pinot noir was pressed immediately in the hopes of creating a white wine from the red grape. Over time the color dropped until it reached a beautiful pale pink. Aromas of candied grapefruit, strawberry leaves and meadow dew waft from this dry barley rosé with a delicate effervescence from the tiniest amount of residual sugar left to ferment in the bottle.
$76

2022 Caleb Leisure, I got it bad, Pinot Gris, Petaluma Gap Mendocino, California, Bin N11
Half of the grapes are directly pressed and fermented in stainless steel and half fermented as whole clusters of grapes in qvevri, this rosé is subtle with cooling aromas of dried blossoms and citrus with a refreshing body.
